Self-Realization Fellowship
International Headquarters Retrofit & Rehabilitation Project

Visitors often tell us of the peace, upliftment, and inspiration they experience here at the Self-Realization Fellowship (SRF) International Headquarters on Mt. Washington in Los Angeles.

In 1925, our founder Paramahansa Yogananda purchased what was once the Mt. Washington Hotel and transformed the site into a haven of tranquility featuring park-like grounds, majestic trees, and meditation gardens—to be enjoyed by visitors, neighbors, and residents alike.

As we near the 100    anniversary of the SRF International Headquarters, we are faced with aging buildings and related facilities.

Preserving a Mt. Washington Site

To continue to serve all who visit, as well as our monastic residents, the site requires seismic, fire life-safety, and infrastructure upgrades. As the International Headquarters Building undergoes the seismic retrofit, all changes and upgrades to the building will meet current codes in accordance with the Secretary of Interior's Standards for the Treatment of Historic Properties, as well as the recently updated California Energy Code.

We will also improve accessibility on the site to meet Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) requirements.

SRF is currently working with the City of Los Angeles to obtain all necessary permits and approvals.

Our project will not result in any increased site capacity for visitors, employees, or residents.

When the retrofit project is complete, we will reopen the site for our neighbors and friends to visit, meditate, and enjoy the grounds.
